Creepy And Abandoned Amusement Parks

I found this article the other day and decided I would post about it. The article is about 10 amusement parks that are abandoned and some are eerie for a reason, others it is just how they now look. I’ll only post about a few of them, but make sure to look at the article to read about the rest.

Pripyat Amusement Park in the Ukraine. The grand opening of this park was to take place on May 1, 1986. It did open, but only for a few hours. Just a few days before the opening of this park was the Chernobyl disaster and after a few hours of being open, an announcement was made for everyone to evacuate due to the radiation levels.

Joyland in Wichita, Kansas. It was opened for 55 years and closed in 2004 due to financial reasons.

Okpo Land in South Korea. The abandoned amusement park is located on a hill on Geoje Island and has a creepy past. In the 1990s there were at least two deaths from roller coasters in the park. The second death occurred and the owner is said to have mysteriously disappeared one night and then the park closed. The park was demolished in 2011.

Are there any amusement parks near you that are abandoned?

  1. Ooh…these are creepy! It’s interesting how something that was meant for fun and excitement…when abandoned…can become so eerie looking!
I don’t know of any abandoned amusement parks.
Thanks for the link…I wanna’ go read more!
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  2. The ones in AZ that have closed have all been torn down. I have been to Future City, near Cairo, IL. It is not exactly an amusement park, but is a rundown “theme city” that is largely abandoned, and rather a scary place.
